Bill,

Is your Aero stock or modified?

I see many modified ricers in the Boston area and find that they are typically in their early 20s. I am not so sure they know what power lurks beneath the hood of a car like an Aero, Viggen, 9-3 SE, and other models. especially one that has been modified.

I have a "stock" 2001 Viggen and have not had the pleasure of being challenged yet. Since having test driven a few performance sedans/coupes (Acura TL Type S and Volvo S60 T5 to name a couple) I did not feel that those cars would be able to win a race from say 30 mph+ over the Viggen or Aero. They in fact look better on paper as indicated by their 0-60 and 1/4 mi times but, I think that the true grunt of our Saabs come to life while in motion and not from a dead stop. Would you agree?

Finally, my true desire is to go head to head on an open straight away with a BMW 330 Ci. The Bimmer is a wonderful car that carves through roads with ease and pleasure and has a very powerful inline 6. This car too, is better on paper and of course, handles better than my car. I just have a feeling that the 330 Ci would fall prey as the Saab "really" pulls from 3,000- 5,000+ RPM.

If I ever have the opportunity to play with the likes of an Aero, I will let you know.

Carl
