check out the site http://www.maptun.com

I got the 'Step 3' 9-3 upgrade.

Initial impressions after receiving the parts: the exhaust is HUGE -more like a sewage pipe! Turbocharger looks like stock but a the larger compressor wheel and (ported?) housing are discernable.

Anyway, I had the parts installed and have driven the car for two days now. My previous ECU was Abbott which dynoed at 215hp and which BTW I'm selling to anyone interested (cars up to MY99).
During normal driving the Maptun unit is much smoother and civilized and fuel economy is better too. Turbo lag is just slightly more, but not noticable unless you pay attention. The exhaust sounds barely louder than stock at idle and when easy on the gas, but makes enough noise to let others know to get out of the way when you floor it!

Performance: Well, the Abbott setup raises boost as fast as possible giving you a great turbo-rush and really fast spoolup.
The Maptun setup has a much smoother onset of torque; the result is LESS wheelspin, more ability to accelerate through corners and of course, tranny preservation.
Getting to the point. The car is extremely fast. You get a push of torque as the turbo spools at 3000rpm, a second wave at just over 4000rpm and a V-tec type surge of power at 5200rpm. I have to get out of my habit of shiting at 5800rpms, since power is there all the way up to 6500rpm.

The power also gets to the ground much more evenly than before. On the downside, it does not give that turbo-surge of adrenalin the Abbott one did.
So, does it *feel* like the claimed hp amount? I look at the speedometer finishing fourth gear and accelerating faster and faster as the rpms rise. I raced a car that I just barely got ahead of before -I passed him as if he was going in reverse.
A dyno will give some numbers. What's for sure is that the power is immense, but the car is so well-tuned that you would think there is room for even more...
