This should be interesting to those who suggested doubling up the rear swaybars on a 9-3. It's probably the same for an NG900.

I had replaced the rear swaybar on my 9-3 with one from Abbott. The Abbot one was a little stiffer and handling improved a bit but nothing to write home about. It was an early production model and I mentioned that it should be stiffer. It didn't really help body roll much.

Recently, somebody asked if anybody had doubled up the rear swaybars on a 9-3. I hadn't but since I have the old stock swaybar, I decided to try it. After a trip to the hardware store to get good quality hard bolts which were long enough to pass through both swaybars, I was in business.

It was more difficult to install than just 1 swaybar because there were more holes to line up. It took about 30 minutes.

The results seem close to how Dean had described the SAS bar.

Results:

Body roll is now reduced.

Turn in is better although the front end seems like it's getting flogged more in hard corners.

One wheel bumps are pretty rough.

I was concerned about actually getting oversteer at the limits. I took a few corners at the cars previous limits and the car just handled them beautifully. ie; the limits have been raised. I'm still concerned about having the back end come around at the limit. Not real keen on find that just yet.

My rear end now slides back and forth across my seat while whipping around corners. That hasn't happened since I was driving our modified Saturn SC which could out-corner BMWs, etc.

My wife thinks I'm driving slower now because of the reduced body roll. It just seems more effortless.

My final thoughts? It drives just great. It's been on since Fri PM. It won't come off until it has to. I'm a little concerned because roll stiffness is so great now. I would suggest doubling up stock swaybars or having Abbott make theirs even stiffer than it is. This is a lot of roll stiffness.

What I'm REALLY looking for now is an uprated FRONT bar to go with it. Are you listening Abbott???
