I've got a 1997 900 SETC with an Abbott ECU upgrade,
Saab sport exhaust, K&N in custom cold airbox & Viggen intercooler. (see
http://people.ne.mediaone.net/dantucker/saab for more detail). In 60K miles
I've killed two stock Garrett turbos due to thrust bearing failure. Too much back pressure on the exhaust side of the turbo at 18 pounds of boost
according to the folks at Performance Turbo. Sooo... I ordered a new
Turbonetics T3 Super 60 from them. Well, duh! after it arrived today, we
realized that the stock turbo isn't a T3, it's a T25! This sucks.

I think I'd like to keep this T3 and figure out a way to make it fit. It
will require a different wastegate setup and some custom work on the
downpipe and inlet (fine), some custom coolant and oil lines (okay?) but the problem is the exhaust manifold. It simply won't fit and the flow would be wrong. I might be able to get a custom adapter plate made locally, but I also had a thought that maybe the manifold from a C900T 16 valve might bolt up to the head and fit the T3 housing. Anyone know if this would work, or have any other ideas? (Cu$tom?) I'm thinking that if the heads are the same... a simple junkyard score might solve my most pressing problem.

If it won't work, I'll have the T25 rebuilt with different wheels and expect to do so every 25K :(
