85 900T. Without going into the gory details, pretty well modified. Engine rebuilt by PAECO. A mistake and another story some other time. SPG9 did the head after PAECO f'd it up. Driving to work the other day a "O dark thirty". Car stops running while cruising down interstate. Valve spring broke in half. Valve is gone.
Pull head. Get to looking at pistons. Can see the top rings protruding from side of pistons. Pull engine. The following are the measurements the shop took. Pistons are forged Arias units.
Cyl. 1 2 3 4
Bore 3.583 3.583 3.583 3.582
Top Above
piston 3.541 3.543 3.542 3.542
Difference .042 .040 .041 .040
Bottom of
Skirt 3.576 3.575 3.576 3.577
Difference .007 .008 .007 .005
LESCO said forged pistons will swell at top more than stock pistons. No reason to doubt and I will contact them Monday with these measurements. Anyone out there have any comments about these numbers. the first measurements with the 0.040 +/- range seems rather much.
