In my research on this subject as I endeavor to continue to improve my SAAB, I found what Zeke recently stated interesting:
"In his book on turbocharging, McInnes' seems to think that a reduced diameter pipe from the cat' back is sufficient - no muffler! In fact, in the motorcycle section, he states that a motorcycle with turbo and no muffler is quieter than a normally aspirated one with two mufflers."
Really?! Could it be so? Does anyone on the board have a no muffler setup? If so. What dia. pipe? Is it or could it possibly be too loud? The idea of going w/a 3" downpipe to a 3" Random Technologies cat then to a 2 1/2" pipe all the way to the bumper intrigues me. Not to mention the cost savings in eliminating the muffler. I tried to find the above noted McInnes book - no joy. Can anyone point me to any solid pros/cons or tech on this?
Thanks,
paul
