Okay... perhaps I wasn't being clear...
Cookin said "the large object atached to the IC pipe after the turbo is the wastegate." To which I replied "If you have a wastegate attached to an intercooler pipe, you have a problem."
If you have a wastegate stuck on your intercooler piping you have DO have a problem. Either you're venting exhaust gasses to your intake system or the atmosphere, either of which is no good. If the owner of the car thought he was getting creative using a huge wastegate as a bypass valve, he's gonna have a nasty surprise when he remembers that wastegates open with PRESSURE and bypass valves open with VACUUM. Using a wastegate as a bypass would result in, ta-da, NO BOOST.
As for the car, if you're talking about the boosted Mustang on that page, yeah, he's running dual wastegates - one for each bank of cylinders. Those two heat exchangers on the sides are radiators - there is no way he's running air through those tiny ducts. The car probably runs on alcohol, which keeps exhaust temps way down and combined with decent water injection probably doesn't need intercooling anyway... the shorter intake tract is what he's after.
