saab eng design is thermally efficient. example: C900 has 165 hp, running inj's at 21 lb/hr. assuming 90% dc, that's .45 bsfc.

for 34# in 2.3L, 100% dc, .5 bsfc. this is possible with very big, efficient turbo, IC, high VE, and no gas wasted on cooling things off.

those typical bsfc's listed by accel for turbos are very conservative. For given hp, the turbo does have less displacement needed, and less combustion surface area to waste heat through.
