The cheap a/f gauge is very useful for trouble shooting. Instead of trying to get a reading off of the o2 wire plug you can tell if it is cycling by looking at the gauge. Helped me save time when I was trouble shooting the ecu.
For over a year I tried to track down lean boost conditions when all it was was a bad AMM. It acted like it was fine but it was not accurate at high boost and rpm. The a/f gauge definately picked up on the lean running. Slapped a good AMM on one day and the a/f gauge went into the green at boost. Problem solved. So if you want one just don't expect it to give you precise readings. But it is more than eye candy. I put mine in with an over ride switch so I don't have to look at it all the time. I personally don't need to see it 100% of the time.
