The ram air intake I designed functioned well, but not well enough to keep it in there. I took it out when my transmission exploded, and did not really feel like putting it back in. At the time, I was kinda pissed off at my car (and the whole idea that there really was no better option than to put another stock C900 box back in, albeit the best year/combo I could get my hands on) I was planning on disassembling the whole added power set up, actually. Not really sure what changed my mind on that one...

Anyway, it would be more worth your while to either move the intake into the fender, OR try a real ram air idea, one that I'm still very seriously considering: weld a NACA duct into the hood (I'd have a body shop do it!) on the driver's side front corner, right above the air intake. Duct it up, and boom, you've got yourself true ram air. Jouko did a ram air style intake in his fender. He has a very nice step by step web site.

One thing that caused me to keep the set up out is the fact that I added a fan on the engine side of my intercooler (from Brad, a regular on this BB). This pulls air across the IC, blowing right onto the air filter. It also keeps the engine air away from the filter somewhat.

Good luck!
