Putting 9K brakes onto my '89 SPG was such a good call and not all that expensive either. I have always wanted to improve my braking power and fade resistance, but I always thought that it would cost me big money for a set of AP, Alcons, or Brembos.
The set up was pretty easy and the labor wasn't to bad, however it helps to use a friends shop and have access to a lift and all the proper tools.
Took off the old calipers, rotors, and lines.
I had to slightly modify the dust shield to allow the bigger caliper to fit up to the bracket and to run the bolts thru the holes. I used washers on the bolts to keep the ends from touching the rotors. Worked great and fits perfect.
I took the bracket that holds the connection of hose from the car, to the steel line, to the caliper. (Penetrant is a must when removing the lines) Still it was a big PITA. I wire wheel cleaned the brackets and part of the caliper as well.
The brackets are welded onto the caliper to hold the new SS line that I ran. The stock steel line that goes into the caliper needs to be coerced into a slightly different angle, but it worked beautifully.
After repeating on the other side the system was bled. Then I took the car to an industrial park where I bedded the brakes in.
After only one day post-bedding and a rainy one at that I can say that the braking in the wet is a big improvement, however I need to try them in the dry to see how good this setup really is.
