Realistically, not much "extra" can be done re: power. You'll find that a thorough tune-up, professional injector cleaning, replacing all vac lines/nipples will put a little spring in her step again, though.

Handling-wise, you can expand the envelope and enjoy a modestly powered car that can be thrown around pretty good. Some high-yield mods, mostly OEM stuff, that preserve ride quality: 195/60R15 tires (a touch wider, surprising grip difference; get yourself some hi-perf tires in good time), install a used set of OEM SAAB swaybars (really flattens the car out in corners, great fun), repl shocks with turbo spec set (e.g. Sachs 112-102 front, Boge 360-821 rear; can wait till you need new shocks to do). You could lower the car 1/2-1" as well; pro's and con's to that.
