If you put the MBC in the "C" line between the Turbo and the APC valve you will eliminate wastegate creep and feathering, get quicker spool up, full boost in lower gears, and you can maintain APC function and knock detection, mostly. The key is to set the valve to open at a boost pressure considerably less than your maximum boost. It takes a bit of trial and error to set it so that you still see boost cutback at high levels. I assumed that because the valves(I used a Dawes Device) at max setting opened at 15psi I could just start a turn or two down and go from there, no way. While seeing the boost gauge at 3 o'clock and feeling the tremendous power with no boost limits was awesome (momentarily only, of course), reason prevailed and I back it down to about half way.
Basically I have not raised the max boost level at all this way, its just there a whole lot quicker. Throttle response, a Saab weakness, is greatly improved.
If you do this you have to still be carefull to use good gas, and I wouldn't reccomend it if other family members, who might not be as sensitive as your are about the car were to drive it.
ps, what turbo does the Carlson have, a Mitsu or a T-25?
