Knocking at High Boost

Just when I thought I had my '88 SPG all sorted out I'm getting knock at upper boost levels.
I've changed from my SD 24# injectors back to stock to get rid of poor idle and drivability problems and found the car runs alot smoother. Along with the return to the stock injectors I dialed up the RRFPR and my Autometer AF gauge shows quite rich at full throttle. I also backed off the timing today which seems to have helped but there's a slight drop in low end grunt.
I've adjusted the boost pressure regulator to about 18psi recently as well but was getting whacks of pre-ignition before this. I've also checked that APC solenoid works.
Should I be testing the knock sensor and the wastegate? If this all checks out then is it time for an MSD6 BTM?
As usual thanks for help!
Dan
