The whole point of using a turbo on an engine is that when it is boosting at 1.8 bar (2.8 absolute) then it will boost at that pressure regardless of the altitude.... The turbo simply has to work harder and spin faster to produce that boost at the top of the hill....

Its a trade off... smaller turbo, faster spool up, quicket at the bottom... verses bigger turbo, slower spooling, but more grunt at the top!

I honestly do not remember exaclty what boost we ran on the engine, but it wasn't as high as some figures fantasized about here in this string.. and was closer to 1.8-2.0 bar overpressure (2.8-3.0 absolute).

The key is in making the engine mechanically efficient, high compression and making it last whilst boosting it.... Get the right fuel and things are ok... but don't expect more than 30 minutes out of a 75 000 dollar engine!!
