Having driven both the Viggen and WRX (ended up with an '02 Aero with an 7K doscount) and owned other performance cars (BMW M3, Audi TT quattro 225hp, Nissan 300ZX turbo), I found the WRX to be an amazing car for the money. The interior is cheap and the fit and finish is not great - but the car is a stone gas to drive. Forget the factory wheels, put on your own 17" package and firm up the suspension - you have an extraordinary car. The Viggen combined performance and luxury - the two together place you in the category of a price premium. If the Aero had not been such a good deal - I might very well have gotten the Viggen
