The BPC valves are electrically modulated bleeder valves. Bleeder valves are linear devices and start to apply pressure to the wastegate which starts to open the wastegate before boost is reached. This spills exhaust flow energy which reduces the ability of the turbo to spin up. So the BPC/bleeder will greatly increase turbo lag. The lag that you experience is the lag of the control system and turbo combined. With a bystable (nonlinear) ball-spring type MBC you can get the turbo to spin up much faser and get much better dynamic response.
Some have installed in a conventional fashion on 9K's, totally bypassing the BPC valve. However, a ball-spring MBC can be used in conjuction with the BPC valve to get aggressive spool up and not increase the overall boost levels.
