Spoke to an exhaust fabricators in the UK last week about getting a system custom made for my 9000, and enquired about a 3 inch turbo back system. They suggested I would be better off with a 3 inch down pipe, and then 2.5 inch pipe from then on (they will make me a 3 inch system if I still want).

They say the 2.5 will give better power in low to mid range, whereas the 3 inch will push power up at higher revs. They produce systems for the Subarus in this configuration with good results.

Anyone any experience of running a 3inch/2.5inch system and a full 3 inch system? Any comments?

Got a good deal promised, all made in stainless, made to measure to the car, and the ability to refit the CAT in 10 minutes come MOT time. All for not much more than a JT system, which I'd have to fit myself. Will have to decide soon, and will let those interested know how it all turns out.
