How much boost is too much? (long)

Hope this qualifies as performance.. here is the background info..I have a 97 9000 Aero with 62K. It was picked up in Germany and owned by a Saab Exec till 18K I bought it from the second owner at 55K. I have records of 2 clutches being put in one at 16K and another at 50K. When I picked up the car it had poor boost and it was diagnosed to be a bad APC solenoid. I bought a new one from Saab and when it was put in and driven the boost goes beyond the end of the red zone. I had my mechanic check it out today as I thought it was way too high and it was boosting at a solid 32.9 PSI. My questions are: Is this too high for the longevity of the motor/headgasket? What is the stock high boost pressure? What do the performance ECU modifications usually bring it to? What can I do to bring the boost down to a safer level? BTW I have verified that the ECU is at least the right part number for the 97 Aero but I have no idea if it was ever modified. I heard that Euro spec Aero's had 245hp but I doubt they run at 32.9 PSI Thanks for any help.
