its easier to remove the turbo sometimes Ive had to cut the flange bolts with a torch to remove them also the turbine housings are bad to crack & you should inspect it for cracks which is easier with it off minor cracking inside the snail shell is ok but if the cracks are big & cross the WG flapp seat Id change it too you can get good used ones for like $80 its a .48 / T3 turbine housing. make sure you pay attantion to how the thing is clocked ( positioned rotationally ) & get it back together the same or the oil & watter tubes wont line up rite.
