'99 Viggen stock except for K+N air filter. Bottom line: 15.1 at 97 mph. IMPOSSIBLE to launch; best short (60') time was 2.3 sec with 2.4 the norm. Left the lights at 3k rpm or so, tried to slip the clutch but wheel spin resulted. Stock shifter is abysmal. Kept it in 3rd through the traps and hit the rev limiter just before the line - shift to 4th of course hurt times and trap speed. The 97 mph speed indicates good power, though, so I am happy that the car is as strong as it should be.

Eric (ERB) showed up in his red '96 SE (SE?; also, Eric please contact me at eden@es.marywood.edu) with 21 lb boost and some mods, which if you don't already know of, he will provide. In a heads up race I won :o, but Eric pulled at least one 14.7 - excellent. His trap speeds were strong, and at least 97 mph if not 98 mph for a few runs. His car runs well.

Interestingly, my friend ran with us in his new WRX sedan manual shift, largely stock. He could not improve on 15.1 despite 2.0 short times (and he can drive - had 12 second turbo Eclipses in the past) and his trap speeds did not exceed 90 mph. So, my 225/230 hp rating versus his 227 hp rating...isn't the WRX lighter than my Viggen, too? Methinks his WRX on the low end of stock power production. At any rate, great fun, wish we could see more Saabs.

Eric and I are interested in some dyno testing, near Harrisburg, PA, so we may post on that soon.
