Hello Ryan, Jack at MSS has great 8V cams and even more importantly has the right lash adjusters to go with the reground cams slightly smaller base circle. I happen to have a brand new set of 8V + .040" oversize OEM (Mahle) pistons. As far as your other questions, the only honing to do on the rods for the new pistons other than resizing the large ends if necessary would be honing new small end bushings to fit the new wrist pins that come with the pistons. Your crank is probably OK, just have it measured for standard size, straightened if necessary and micro-polished. I like to see Vanderville main and rod bearings used which can be bought through Clevite, when you open the Clevite box you'll find Vanderville bearings inside (the best of the best)! I really prefer an OEM rod bushing from a Saab dealer as they just machine nicer and are pre-chamfered on the I.D. as well. I believe the 16V rods will interchange and have a much better bolt however I'm basing this on the 16V '85 rods that I've been told are the same as 8V rods which I don't like the coarse threaded rod bolts and the way the rod is machined for the head of the bolt! (maybe ask Jack at MSS?) You may consider having the whole assembly balanced. Also find a shop the leaves at least .003" (.005" preferred) to hone after boring, this gives the rings a good base material to seat against. For any other questions you may have you can email me or give me a call on my eastern wireless number at (607) 742-7589. Dave
