This is a very interesting report.
When folks yank the silencer, it is often the first or second thing that they do. And some notice an improvement, others are less enthusiastic. Some are simply happy to have done something on an engine system that they don't understand at all.
So when the rest of the system is restricted, removal of the silencer is not big deal, because the base system is not very responsive or powerful. Once you get other mods in place, and then remove the silencer, then one can see the effect of removing a weak link. With the MBC you removed the major source of boost lag, and with the removal of the silener, you were able to see how the turbo was able to respond to the reduced restriction.
The sports exhaust will really help, and of course the Viggen IC would too.
There was a posting of a dealer web site this week that had really good pricing on the Viggen IC and hoses. Maybe Santa will bring you a new IC.
B4, you wrote:
you now have the silencer removed and had the TBTC rework done before too.
Modified air intake + K&N
MBC inline with BPC
Koni sport adjustables all around
Abbott steering rack brace
Abbott TCA bushings
SAS rear swaybar
Springs are back to stock for a variety of reasons (NH releated really)
Hoping to do the subframe brace, an ECU, and sport exhaust later but only after I hear NHClimers sport exhaust.
So you have a 9-3, a 1999 T5?
Automatic or 5spd?
