I guess that all depends on how gain is measured .....

I think that the majority of people that post on the board, including myself, could have taken the time and money that they have invested in their Saabs and probably bought a really nice car that was already build up. But, as you have already noted, I don't think it is anything about getting to the end of the project, but about the fun of tinkering along the way and the satisfaction of doing it yourself. Along the way, you meet a lot of really nice people that you might not of otherwise had the chance to meet. For example, just the other day, TrafficShark and I talked on the phone about our cars far longer than we should. When my wife hears me talking Saab (AKA the Saab widow), she just rolls her eyes. Is he a life long friend of mine? No, we just recently spoke for the first time, but enjoyed our common appreciation for our Saabs. This is just one of many examples of good people that I have met. So, not to sound so sappy, but do it because you'll enjoy the ride! Not to say that the road will be without bumps (e.g., that clutch that I can't seem to get unstuck), but hey isn't that all part of the challenge?
