...and my dealer strongly advised against trying to do the ports with the valves, cams etc. still on it and just plugging the ports with a rag or something, too. Nearly a 100% chance of destroying one or more lifters... Well, that was to be expected... So I ended up having them dismantle the thing - they even lent me the official Saab storage tray for the lifters and stuff - and put it all back together fot me after I was done.
I spent four nights on enlargening the intake ports to match the 2.1 intake manifold (I used the 2.1/2.3 gasket for reference) and gently clean up the short side intake radii - one port per night. :-) Just before finishing the last port, my new Dremel flex shaft decided to call it a day - second in a row :-(
If you don't want to lift the head, just leave the 2.1 manifold for when you are going to dive in there. Sorry...
