Never change tyres in the summer. Why? Because heat is the single most enemy of a tyre. The tread of a tyre will always wear quicker in the summer because of the macadam (road) temperatures. Tread squirm on a new tyre is even more prevalent when the tyre is hot, Squirm contributes to friction and these causes more tyre wear. Yes grip levels increase but this also increases friction and wears a tyre more. Replace tyres in the winter or towards the end of summer you will get at least several more months of use from them. I use nitrogen in all my tyres (99.5% purity) and have 40K on my Boxster, 135K on my SPG (second set of tyres) and 85K on my Aero second set just.
