I'm controlling the boost though the wastegate just like on a normal abbott ECU. The tighter the wastegate the lower the rpms in which full boost can be obtained and the higher boost levels acheived. I do mostly highway driving and enjoy running the boost slightly over the 1.5 bar max which is higher then the current map sensor will allow. Adding a resistor allows for the map senor to be tricked into allowing higher boost levels which is a side effect of having the boost come on faster in the lower rpms. To get rid of the fuel cut-off/over boost problems with the current set up I also could just lengthen the wastegate but I prefer higher boost in the lower rpms. The current set up with the resistor also make the car run leaner and get more mpg. Changing the map sensor to a 3 bar map sensor will allow for the car to run leaner, much like the current set up. The only question is if the 3 bar map sensor will run the car leaner then the resistance which is already added to the map sensor. If the car is running to lean then resistance can be added to another map sensor wire to adjust for it and make it run richer. Not exactly easy to follow but that is it.
