I bought one of these to remove an O2 sensor that someone had jammed in and rounded the flats off. Nothing else would grip because the corners were gone.
Having taken the downpipe off so I could get a socket at it, I had to apply well in excess of 100lbft to gradually loosen it, but the socket didn't slip in the slightest.

The inside of the socket looks a bit like a six-sided socket, but the hole actually has six slightly concave sides and turning force causes the curves on the inside of the socket to bite into the flats on the nut.

Also, WD40 isn't really a dismantling lubricant, although it does have some penetrating properties. I use a product called "Plus-Gas", available in the UK, that is specifically designed for this purpose and gives much better results than WD40. I believe "Liquid Wrench", available in the US, is similar.
