Viggen for autocross ?

Purchased a stock 2000 9-3 Viggen 5-door a couple months ago. Previous car was 1995 Taurus SHO (5-speed), also stock except for uprated rear sway bar. The SHO was my daily driver, but I did do a bit of weekend parking lot autorcrossing with it. I found the SHO did amazingly well for such a large car. It came alive @ 4000 rpm and pulled harder & harder on up to 7000, so I'd run most of the course in 1st gear. With revs kept up, the SHO was a rocket, and while limited by street tires it held on tenaciously in the turns.
My question is whether or not the Viggen, in stock form, is a reasonable autocrosser. I'm not looking to win at a high level, but can I expect this car to compete with other smaller stock cars like the Subaru's, Civics, and GTI's? Any tips anyone can offer regarding managing the inherent lack of traction on acceleration, etc? What makes the best launch? Etc etc.... THANKS!
