Hey,
My 4 cents….
I just put the Bilstein & H&R Springs on my 95 9000 Aero. Be prepared for a Significant change in ride quality. I've had mine on for about 3-4 days now and I'm semi-regretting the modification prior to winter.
So I'll say that the Look of the car is GREAT! It really lowered the car to the point where the back tire is under the lip of the wheel well by about a 1/4 inch. It also corners extremely well. The breakaway is very predictable. I'm also planning on the Poly bushing upgrade next month. One of the old factory struts was squeaking Loudly so I chose this change springs/struts first.
So, the ride sacrifice is Significant. I’ve actually started planning my drives across town based on the road quality. I also have to admit that I'm not used to a full "sport/racing" suspension so I may be a bit skewed (pansy like) in my review, but when butt comes off the seat repeatedly while entering bit of rough Freeway pavement...you make the call. How much would be a harsh ride...1/2" butt rise...1-2"....or none. Maybe we can figure out a rating system :)
For a daily driver, unless you’re very committed to the performance, I’d say go with a different set up. I'm pondering replacing the new $300 H&R springs with the old factory set for the winter and then switching them out again when summer hit's and I put on the new 17" Ronal RT's. I think they'll be perfect for the summer and racing season.
Anyone have experience doing a Bilstein shock/strut combo w/ the OME springs? I don’t see any reason why this wouldn’t work but I thought I’d ask.
I’ll have pictures for all tomorrow.
Late
eS
