Merits of wrapping inter-cooler piping?

I have a 1994 9000 Aero and a 2000 9-5. A project that I was considering was to wrap the inter-cooler pipes with some Thermo-Tec wrap, which would help to insulate against heat and insure a bit cooler intake air temperature. In looking at my two Saabs, I noted that the intercooler pipe on the 1994 9000 is principally metal (2" diameter tubing) whereas on the 9-5 the intercooler pipes are rubber and plastic.
My question is as follows: given that the 9-5 pipes are rubber and plastic, which I would think would insulate somewhat better than the metal pipes on my 9000, would it be worthwhile to insule these pipes on the 9-5.
Opinions from the readers of this board are very much welcome.
