Dr. B or anybody out there - do you know what happens when:
1 - you twist one of the Trionic injectors 45 degrees so that it doesn't line up like it is supposed to?
2 - you install c900T (18 ohm resistance) injectors in a T5 system (12 ohm resistance)?
I'll tell you what *I think* happens. In #1 you will get a misfire in that cylinder (blinking CEL) and hunting idle/stumbling acceleration that simulate a vacuum leak. But there is no vacuum leak. Then if you misdiagnose the #1 condition and perform operation #2, you fry the Trionic ECM. Smoke comes out of it. Car don't move. Crap. I didn't even make it to my test appointment today with the emissions folks.
I don't understand that injectors w/ slightly higher impedance than specified would do this. I figured that they would pass less current, and would therefore be "safe". Or the ECM would have a protection circuit, or something. Any way you cut it, I'm off the road for awhile. DS
