help...anybody have an AM *electric boost gauge??

I am kicking myself for giving hte wrong part # to my mechanic...I really would have preferred a mechanical Autometer boost gauge, like I had before.

Anyway, does anybody know of a correct 12V source that stays on during cranking? I'm having a hell of a time getting the boost gauge to function correctly. I tapped into the clock and even briefly tried direct from the battery to see what would happen. The oil pressure gauge is as happy as can be (as to is the A/F gauges)...resets to 0 before start, starts right up after the car starts. The boost gauge, however, does what the hell it wants. Either the calibration is way off (I mean cruising at 10psi sometimes). It just refuses to do it's self calibration before start up. I was diligent with my connections...a testiment to my other gauges working primo, but the boost gauge...well...if it didn't cost $200 I would toss it right now. I'm going to order the mechanical Cobalt gauge today...out of spite of course.

Is the gauge hooped, or is there a paticular 12V source that I should be using? So far I've used: clock, battery, Hot source to the old OEM/aftermarket oil pressure gauge, and the lighter...

I'm stumped.
