The 2003 Cavalier and Sunfire, Saturn Ion, Vue and L200, Pontiac Grand Am, Oldsmobile Alero all use the 2.2L Ecotec as the std or base engine. Many also had it in 2002. The Saab 9-3 and Opel use a 2.0L version of the same Ecotec engine, some obviously with a turbo. The Cavalier drag car makes 1000hp from a 2.0L version, obviously very modified. The Ecototec is a very advanced and durable engine with a very strong structure. It is or can be mfged on the same line as GMs 4.2 L6 and new 3.5 L5 and 2.8L L4. They are all aluminum and many have variable valve timing but yet to see it on any 4cyl ecotec.
