Your engine does not have a normal knock senor. The DI and ECU measure the properties of the gas in the spark plug gap to determine the knock type condtions. The timing and mixture are changed to prevent knock. If this is not sufficient, the ECU will drop boost pressure as a last resort.

Use NGK BCPR6ES11s's and gap them to .035" to get the best in-spec gap service life. These plugs should easily last a year or 25K. You need to remove, inspect, regap etc to know what you really need.

The above plugs will run very clean and will be almost white. Plugs get sooty at startup and when on boost. During off boost, the plugs need to be hot enough to burn clean. The 7ES's will be much darker. You could try them if you want, and for a while the 7ES's were the factory recomendation.

There may be expensive NGK platinum plugs recommended by Saab for your vehicle, but they are not cost effective and the cost benefit is not there for someone who does there own maintenance.

If you install trick plugs, you will probably end up with big trouble, it happens all of the time. Stick with the NGKs. The plugs are your knock sensors.
