Glad the info is of interest.
As to the MBC, I really like in-line setting between turbo and BCV. I may misunderstand slightly, maybe it's the BCV rather than the APC that cracks open the wastegate as soon as there's boost, but either way, this installation hides it until you hit your predetermined level, resulting in much quicker initial boost rise.
In this installation, I think 6 lbs is too low unless you are worried about getting really cruddy gas. I've set mine at 8 and I think that is fairly conservative. But I am willing to bet my engine that I won't have serious detonation below that level, and I don't feel as comfortable at 10 or 12 lbs. So 8 it is, and after that, the APC is on duty.
As to the AID, I don't know how to compare it to other units now available. I do think it probably is more precise than manually bending the retard stop. I have had good results and good customer service from SPG9, which sells the AID - - but then, I've had good service from Swedish Dynamics and Saab Savior, too, and while I've yet to spend a dime with him, Brad also has bent over backwards to answer questions, provide info, etc. Frankly, I'd be equally comfortable with products from any of these providers. Don't be afraid to ask each separately to explain the strengths of their products vs the others. The better suppliers know that if they deal straight with you, they'll get some of your business eventually. We are blessed with a very good set these days.
There is an alternative, however, which you should investigate. It's the Boost Timing Master (BTM), which is an altogether different approach. If I understand correctly, it may offer better flexibility at ultra-high boost levels. I went with the AID after researching both (See Jeff Cunningham's site for info on the BTM) and concluding that the AID would be simpler to install and adequate for my preset determination that I wouldn't pursue more than 250 hp.
Of course, my original goal was 200. Then 220... The moral here: recognize that the need for speed can be a progressive addiction, and give yourself room to raise the goal a little without having to redo everything you just paid money for a year earlier. The BTM might be better for that, I don't know.
Enjoy the rush.
