...the 9-5 has a pretty good RV(residual value) when compared to other cars in it's class/price. Which cannot be said for Saabs of the past.
I have not ridden in a 9000 but can really appreciate the refinement found in a new car. Especailly the 9-5 after owning other recent makes(1998 and two 1999's).
If your concerned about space the 9-5 sedan is down about 10 cubic feet overall compared to the 9000. The trunk in the 9-5 is a class leading 16 cu. ft. and will swallow four 225/45-17 tires mounted on wheels with the rear seats up. But if it is too small you can join the sport wagon craze with the 9-5 wagon and have about 12 cu. ft. more than the 9000. About 8 cu. ft. more space behind the rear seat in the wagon compared to the 9000. And about the same when the seats are folded down. The wagon only cost about $700 more than a sedan.
Saabs are not collector's cars. Regardless of the numbers produced. I have one of about 300 2000 Aero wagons of which 70% were to be automatics(mine is a manual) and don't thing NADA would recognize it as a collector's car. Though the 9-5 has shorter gearing than the 9000 the fuel economy is similar.
Drive the Aero's back-to-back and let us know what you think.
