one thing i thought of was to use a small neodynium magnet on the inside of the hall wheel up[ against the top ( or bottom of the top inside). drill a small hole for mag flux then put a mag prox sensor through the side of the cap, needs to be balanced on other side. problem with not using crank for tdc ( .vs #1 indicator) is that the dist drive has a little slop although i will probably use the dist as my sensor "driver" when i get to that point. also it may be possible to get a gearwheel that fits the distributor and then put sensor through side of cap. the more teeth the better the accuracy. that is why a crank trigger for crank position and separate #1 tdc indicator works best. it may be possible to set up a single tooth on the stock hall wheel and use that for a trigger. depends on rising or falling edge configuration on controller. as i recall kooch was not able to easily solve that problem using a stock cam sensor. think it was because the slot was too wide and he had to have a separate slot that would have overlapped existing hall sensor slot.
I have not had to try to truly solve this problem yet. however, since it is standard bosch distributor ( shared with vw's ) there may be parts available off the shelf.
