How to remove balance-shafts from B234 shortblock?

Hi there!

Our B234L "donor" engine is on the stand and we are about to remove balanceshafts and head (to be ported). I know it's easier just to remove the chain but we are struggling hard to keep the weight at minimum (we were scrapping 5 kilos if sound-deadening material from the floor for days), so driving around with four kilos of dead weight in the engine is out of the question.

According to my understanding, there are few things to be taken care of when shafts are removed. First, chain tensioners have to be fixated (or removed and oil-galleries plugged?). Second: what to do with oil-galleries going to balance-shafts bearings? Is there some widely used method to take care of oil-leaks when doing this?

Your advices are most wellcome.
