You should really fix the overboost.

Driving with an overboost problem really is not safe
for the motor, transmission and the driver.

The most likely cause is a broken vacuum line going
from the BPC valve to the wastegate actuator.
I think it is the "w" line.


Another cause could be a leaky diaphram in the
wastegate actuator. Disconnect the vacuum hose
at the BPC valve and blow into the line. If there is
airflow, either the hose or diaphram is defective.
You can also trry to suck on the hose. Again if
there is any airflow you have a leak.

A leak in the vacuum line from the BPC valve
to the turbo outlet pressure tap can also cause
overboost.

If the vacuum lines are OK, the only other
element is the BPC valve itself. Sometimes
flooding the valve with WD40 and shaking it
out can fix it temporally. A new valve is about
$200 from one of the site sponsors.

Putting a MBC in the MAP line will result in
a lean mixture. Lean mixtures and high boost
pressures like to make holes in piston tops. not good.

Overboost is usually easier to fix than underboost.
