I initially set mine up with a 1K slide pot in the orange wire, thinking to dial in the best impedance, but I suffered a similar experience to yours. 8 months later I got the inkling to try the 30lb Accels again. This time I went to an electronics store and bought resistors in 50 ohm increments from 200 to 750. Every single resistor worked better than any setting on the slide pot. Why? I dunno, vibration maybe? I settled for ~450ohms and it runs only marginally worse than stock now. Idle is a little rough and hesitates to settle below 1K at times, but I can live with this. Also coming to aid is proper timing. I run Brad's AID, and recently I discovered that my shop had been lying to me about where they set my timing. I asked for 20, they said no. We compromised at 18. Low and behold, I found it (with Mohammad's help) squarely on 15 the other day. After a reset to 20 per Brad's recommendation, drivability increased by leaps and bounds. I was then privy to experience the BPC mod. MMMM... BPC mod... Now if I could get those ignition wires to quit grounding on my IC pipes!! But I digress, try a gamut of actual resistors- all of $0.87 and some time swapping in and out. Adjust your timing accordingly, but do not run high advance if you are not retarding adequately under boost. Hope this helps.
