Hi,
I tried it and went back to stock.
It was far to noisy and the gain is only about 2 HP.
I'm wondering if anyone has tried drilling 2" whole saw vents in the stock
air lid? I raced motox for years and that was the hot set up.
If the weather was muddy duct tape the vents shut. I want to try this with a used cover, this may work and it should be semi quite and safe. Long vacation road trips or winter or rainy weather simply install the back up cover. I would rather listen to my stereo than my wastegate the K&N was very loud. Also be careful on routing a K&N low. If you run the filter low and you go through a deep puddle at full boost you could easily kiss your motor good by. I had a 2.2L old Dodge charger for a company car. The car had 10,000 miles brand new. I drove through a very deep puddle during a rain snow storm. My intake was low I sucked in H 2/0 and blew my motor apart. I bent 2 and 3 connecting rods into new S style rods. The car didn't sound to good when the main bearings broke apart and white smoke poured out the exhaust.
I drove another 20 miles on 2 cylinders. The motor was toast, luckily Dodge warranted the motor.
take care,
Dave
