Whatyear and model car is the ecu in?
I've spent a ton of money with Abbott, but I'm no fan of theirs, especially of their ecu's. I don't know what your conversation with them has been but I'm guessing it's been with Giles, who you have to understand is a model example of a salesman, he tells you what you want to here and if he doesn't know the answer he makes something up.
To try and understand their side a little, you didn't buy the ecu from them, so they don't have any records of what was sold and for what application. If it was me I'd call them, tell them what model car you have, and what the problem is, suggest that you fed-x the ecu to them so they can inspect it, determine that it is one of theirs, and that it's for the right model, fix it if there is a problem and send it back to you. You'd be out the freight charges but at least you'd know what you had.

Regarding your toasted turbo. A shop had installed the abbott ecu in my car and since the ecu's do such a crappy job of increasing boost pressure the shop had to tighten the wastegate actuator to increase the boost to the right level. In doing this the actuator no longer opened the wastegate so it didn't take long for the little t-25 to overspeed and lose all the tips off the turbine. You might check the actuator on your car as the only way the abbott ecu (at least on t-5's) will make decent boost is to tighten up the actuator and maybe someone over did it.

Lastly the Abbott distributor in the US is Scanwest in Seattle and they are the best, maybe call, talk to Rob and explain your problem to him.
