Yeah, I've done this. I spent under $100 on parts and added a fan to the IC of my '85 SPG and built a water injection system. The fan is a stock 900T radiator fan that I attached by running some welding rods (metal clothes hanger will work too) through the intercooler blades and twisting them tight to the fan mounts. The water injection kit consists of 3 or 4 windshield washer pumps in series, a water canister (pressurized by boost to help out), some tubing, a solenoid valve, a water misting nozzle, some fittings, a lighted system control switch that lights up when the system turns on, and a stock overboost cutoff switch. I wired the overboost cutoff switch to turn on the system at 4PSI. The water goes out of the tank through the pumps, through the hoses and fittings, through the solenoid valve (which turns on with the pumps, light on the interior switch, and IC fan at 4psi) and through the misting valve into the intake pipe after the intercooler.
I have some spare misting nozzles etc and eventually I'll T the supply hose and mist the intercooler while injecting the water into the intake as well.
Oh, my SPG is just about as fast as a Viggen, just as fast in the corners, almost as fast in straight line acceleration.
