Hey Ligart,

Make sure both O-rings that are located inside the valve body are there & intact. If not, you'll want to get some new ones. Use only hi-temp, non-metallic syn grease like Mobil 1 or similar. There may also be a third O-ring where the screwcap seats against the valve body. That one's not as critical as the other two, so it can be AWOL & your DV will still work. If that's the case (or you got one of the earlier models w/o that third O-ring), you might want to smear some grease around the top of the valve body to help seal the cap.

It performs the exact same function as the OE Bosch valve, but it requires regular maintenance (every oil change?) & won't ever rip or tear the way the Bosch valve can. Since the OE valve should probably be replaced every 60k miles anyway (maybe every 30k on a Viggen?), then I'd say it's a good purchase. Which color spring is inside?

As far as warranty goes, technically it won't invalidate anything. Now, your dealer may hassle you about it (mine did), so if that's the case you can:
A) wait (no fun!)
B) try to educate your dealer (good luck!)
C) put it on & deal with any arguments if/when they arise (woo-hoo!)
Magnuson-Moss says that in order to deny a warranty claim based on replacement parts used, the manufacturer must prove that the replacement parts caused whatever problems are being addressed under warranty. (Unfortunately, that hasn't stopped my dealer from trying to pin unrelated problems on the few non-OE parts I have on my engine. It either boils down to a basic lack of knowledge about how the parts interact, or simply that they're trying to avoid warranty claims.) The only thing a malfunctioning DV will affect is the boost (either no boost at one extreme, or a damaged turbo at the other), so any other problems will be related to something else.

It's easy to install yourself.
