I'm about a month into my TurboXS type RFL on my '88 900t. Right from the install the car idled normally... however with no washers it wanted to die between first and second gear shifts. I'm now settled on three washers and am happy with it, the car idles fine, no sputtering between shifts, it only wants to die if the car is cold and you dump a ton of boost in first gear. I'm running about 16psi by the way.
I think peoples worries were exagerated and untested, I am really happy with mine. The RFL is REALLY loud... dumping max boost will turn everyones head within a city block - make sure you want everyone to know you have a turbo if you buy this valve. Don't get me wrong it sounds unbelievably good... just loud (I'm now famous with the local ricer crowd).
Go for a quality valve and you won't regret it...
