Yes, the use of a MBC should be accompanied with lower restriction induction and exhaust. If you do that and have a T5 an MBC is a great solution.

For info on series MBCs, search for SMBC here and on the 9-3BB.

A modern MBC is not a bleed valve. Bleed valves create boost delay, just as the stock BPC valve does. It is a variable bleeder valve. The MBCs today are ball-spring devices which provide the fastest spool up that the turbo can deliver.

It is typical to feed the MBCV pressure from the turbo compressor hose barb. It is easy to do and obvious, but certainly not the best solution.

You really need a MBC+Anticipator by using a MBC and an air pressure regulator together. This eliminates the tendancy of the MBCs to produce pressure overshoots, which trigger fuel cuts. With the MBC+A you can feed the MBC from the throttle body* and get boost that holds up at high RPMs. The connection from the turbo will lead to boost droop.

* above the throttle plate. A tee at the IAC inlet hose works great.

Is you have a T5, a MBC+A is a great way to get more power and responsiveness. Yes you need to have the intake and exhaust prepared. That should also be done if you use a modified ECU as well. Either route makes more heat and these changes are needed.

The T5 ECU will control knocking with timing and mixture. That has been proven over and over again. Use thge highest octane pump gas in your market and keep injectors clean and plugs in good order.
