Hi Chris, make sure the 2.3 head is a pre-'94! The '91-'93 9000 turbo and naturally aspirated 2.3 heads are the same as the '91-'93 C-900 non-turbo 2.1 heads. If your 2.3 head/cams is from a non-turbo they will make a slight improvement but you may need to have a distributor drive notch machined into the exhaust cam. The stock bore of the B234 block is the same 90mm as a 2.0 block, it's the 2.3's 90mm stroke that's different, the 2.0 stroke is 78mm. The 2.1 bore is larger (93mm) however but combustion chamber gasket area is the same, probably because they use the same head on the 90mm 2.3 mid year 9000's. These heads have a 2cc larger combustion chamber so you bring your ratio down from 9 to 1 to 8 3/4 to 1 which is a good thing. It's best to get a 2.1 head for a C-900T upgrade as the 2.1 intake manifold has larger ports that match. The 2.1 fuel rail is different because Saab went to a better injector angle so get that too along with the 3 bar FPR w/bracket and hose. If you already have the right 2.3 head you can just buy the 2.1 manifold etc. separately, in fact we have plenty of them! Dave
