My experience with the Quarter Master multi disc clutch(two discs) that Scanwest sells has been great. According to QM, this clutch is rated for 525 ft./lb. of torque using the organic discs.

Once your left leg/brain gets used to the engagement point, driving is smooth and easy. Backing up for parallel parking is no problem. Basically it is as smooth and easy as a stock clutch when you adapt to it. The whole clutch/flywheel combo weighs only 18 lbs which does mean you have to rev a little more when taking off in certain situations like on a hill.

As far as the long term durability of the discs, I do not know what to expect. I have not had them long enough to know. Scanwest said that they used the organic discs is their race car and never had to replace them after multiple seasons of racing. That being said, daily driving I feel creates a greater wear situation because of all the feathering a person does all the time to engage smoothly with a clutch. Time will tell.

The only potential negative with multi disc clutches, is that they are noisy when disengaged. There are plates between the discs that rattle when pressure isn't present. I have found though that I have tuned the noise out, hardly noticing its there anymore when disengaged. The noise though never bothered me anyway.

Call Scanwest for pricing and availability. You will not be disappointed if you buy one.
