I believe the software keeps the rpm up between shifts for emissions. I didn't like it for the first few weeks but you get used to it. TCS is the same thing. You won't like it until you get used to how long it cuts the throttle. When you're pulling out into traffic and it activates, it seems like forever before you get throttle back! I ended up never turning it off after I figured out how hard I could push it without tripping the TCS. If you leave it off you'll be buying new front tires before you know it.
